City and Guilds Certificate in Retinal Screening

This page contains resources for Optometrists and Clinical assistants taking the various modules of the City and Guilds Certificate in Retinal Screening.

The Cheshire DRSS requires Optometrists who are graders to complete modules 001 to 008 inclusive. However Optometrists registerd with the GOC are automatically exempt from modules 003, 004 and 005.

Photographers who may be Clinical Assistants or Optometrists who are not also  graders will need to complete modules 001, 002 and 006

Instructions for how to submit the modules are available to download from the list on the right of this page. In brief, modules need to be submited along with the appropriate work plan (download fromthe  list on the right) to Ivan Wood by e-mail. Documents should be in Word 2003 format (If you are using Word 2007 please be careful how you save the documents!). Once Ivan has checked the module, he will return it to you by e-mail either for corrections (with explanation of the problem) or as completed along with an amended workplan. You must then print out your answer and the workplan and send them along with numerous other forms to Becky Barber at Cheshire DRSS,  Eagle Bridge Health and Wellbeing Centre, Dunwoody Way, Crewe, CW1 3AW.

The PDF Help documents to the Right of this page contain most of the information that you need to fill in for each writen module (except mod 2 which is pretty self evident).

The instructions for the practical assessments and on line grading tests havea few points outlined in yellow for issues that are very important to the assessment process.
