LOC Meeting dates:

The upcoming dates for LOC meetings are as follows:

Meetings are catered with food served at 7pm and the meeting begins at 7:30pm. All contractors and performers in Shropshire are welcome to attend. Please e-mail admin@shropshireloc.co.uk if you wish to attend and require further information.

Shropshire LOC send out regular information about CET events, LOCSU news and NHS matters of interest to contractors and performers via e-mail. If you have stopped receiving these or and/or wish to start then please e-mail admin@shropshireloc.co.uk with your details.

WET AMD REFERRALS

As of 1st October SaTH have removed the wet AMD fax referral service. Fax remains active for the Urgent Eye Clinic.

If you have successfully attained an NHS Net email address then please begin to use the new pathway e-mailing sath.wamd@nhs.net. It would be helpful for all practices to have NHS Net email addresses but we understand the significant burden associated with getting one.

If you do not have an NHS e-mail address the official advice is in the document titled "Final letter Re fast-track referrals" in the News section of this website.

PRIMARY & SECONDARY CARE

CHEC

From the 1st April 2019 Community Health and Eyecare Ltd (CHEC) will administer the enhanced service pathways in Shropshire and Telford. The MECS (previously PEARS), cataract referral refinement, post-operative cataract follow-up, glaucoma repeat measures and children's pathway will be performed by sub-contractors to CHEC. Current performers and contractors should be aware of this already. If you wish to be included on the list of approved sub-contractors please contact CHEC here for further advice.

CHEC will continue to administer the ophthalmology secondary care pathway. CHEC will triage all ophthalmology referrals sent through the GP. This also means that patients whose follow-up appointments are behind schedule can be re-referred though the GP and will be offered an appointment within 7 days.

RSH eye outpatient clinics

Adult ophthalmology outpatient appointments and the urgent eye clinic for adults and paediatric patients are based in the Copthorne Building at RSH.

Paediatric ophthalmology outpatient appointments are available at both sites.

Post Cataract Appointments from Leighton Hospital, Cheshire

An opportunity has arisen to conduct post operative cataract follow ups, as we already do for our SaTH patients, for those who receive their treatment at Leighton Hospital. This is commissioned through Cheshire Primary Eyecare Company (LOC Company). Any practice interested in doing post cataract follow ups for Leighton Hospital please see information on 'post cataract' page under Practitioner Information.
