National Optometric Conference 2010

The National Optometric Conference was held on the 4th and 5th November  at the Park Inn Heathrow, Bath Road, Heathrow, Middlesex   UB7 0DU.

The NOC is the conference for optometrists, optometric advisers and Local/Regional Optical Committees.   LOC officers and members are always  encouraged to attend this conference which provides an unrivalled opportunity to engage first hand with the LOC Support Unit and to share knowledge and network with colleagues from around the country.   A variety of companies (contact lens and equipment manufacturers, software suppliers etc) usually  exhibit at the conference.

The conference  began on Wednesday 3 November with an informal opportunity to meet colleagues over dinner.  The costs were as follows:

NOC Resident ( £525 incl VAT) - included:    Wednesday; evening buffet and overnight accommodation.    Thursday; breakfast and NOC programme including lunch, conference dinner and overnight accommodation.    Friday; breakfast and NOC programme including lunch.

NOC Non Resident   ( £315 incl VAT) - included:   Thursday; NOC programme including lunch and conference dinner.   Friday; NOC programme including lunch.   No overnight accommodation.

NOC Resident Spouse/Partner ( £104 incl VAT) - included:    Wednesday; evening buffet and overnight accommodation.    Thursday; breakfast, conference dinner and overnight accommodation.    Friday; breakfast.

There was a free place for LOCs/ROCs who support LOCSU i.e. one representative per LOC was allowed to attend free of charge. Also, for the first time, LOCs/ROCs were given the opportunity to invite MPs and PCT Chief Executives to join delegates for dinner at the NOC. The cost of the dinner was borne by LOCSU.
