Pharmacy First and requests from Community Optometry

Dear Colleague,

Community Optometrists are currently able to request Community Pharmacy Dispensing of a defined list of Eye Preparations. This was previously restricted under the Minor Ailments Scheme. However, the expansion of Pharmacy First allows this to be available to a greater number of patients.

The Optometry Prescribing and Supply Group (OSPG) which has Community Optometry representation has approved the use of this document and attached forms. These forms replace the older version which is now redundant following the withdrawal of the Minor Ailments Scheme (MAS) and the introduction of this new Scheme. Please therefore destroy the old Pharmacy/Optometry Referral Forms and use the new versions. The new scheme will start on 24 August 2020.
