Durham IOPRR module changes

With the release of updated NICE guidelines relating to glaucoma last November (NG81) there have been new recommendations for how a community commissioned service should be utilised.

GPs and referral management / triage will soon begin redirecting patients out to participating practices where patients have been referred for raised IOPs without GRR/ IOPRR.

Further referrals requiring a glaucoma workup may also be sent this way but this is still under discussion and further communications regarding this will follow.

The module changes have been agreed and will come into force on the 27th of February 2017 for the redirected IOP referrals.

Further changes to the module are being agreed to allow practices to repeat visual fields if the defect is suspicious of glaucoma and otherwise referral is being considered.

The IOP threshold on the module will remain unchanged in the short term so please continue to manage patients with IOPs of 22 and 23mmHg as previosuly requested.
