Wiltshire  LOC is a statutory body which represents the interests of local optometrists at local health authority level. It provides advice and support to optometrists on any matter concerning their NHS contract (and terms of service), on locally agreed enhanced services (shared care) and on developments such as clinical governance.

We liase with Wiltshire and Swindon PCTs on issues affecting optometry by formulating collective views.

The LOC is funded by a statutory levy, which is collected from the monthly payments made to registered opticians for performing General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) sight tests. These funds cover the costs of meetings, transport, project costs, printing, stationary, etc
