About SEWROC

South East Wales has the largest concentration of working community based optometrists in Wales and is at the hub of all optometric pre-registration and postgraduate education with  the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences  and the Welsh Postgraduate Education Centre (WOPEC) located in the centre of Cardiff.   The South East Wales Regional Optical Committee (SEWROC) covers the three health boards of Cwm Taff, Aneurin Bevan and Cardiff and the Vale.   SEWROC have always had a good working relationship with the health boards through which they have pioneered many locally enhanced schemes such as The Gwent Post Cataract Service, the LOCSU 1a and 1b Repeat Readings Service and Hospital Domiciliary Visits.   The Primary Eye Acute Referral Service (PEARS) was piloted in South East Wales and now runs across Wales and in some areas in England.
