Sefton Local Optometric Committee (LOC) is the official organisation representing the interests of the Optical Profession, particularly Optometrists within the Sefton area. It provides advice to Sefton PCT, local Hospitals and Optometrists within the Sefton area.

The LOC has also taken on the role of helping to organise and establish various shared care schemes within the area, such as direct referral for cataract and is currently working in conjunction with local hospital Ophthalmology departments and Sefton PCT to expand this role.

Sefton LOC members  meet approximately every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the prevailing workload, to discuss matters/plans/legislation that affect Optometry on a Local/National level. Meeting dates

With  the demise of Merseyside Optical Seminars, the LOC  will try  to continue to support continuing education events for local practitioners.
