AMD CENTRE

In the Sefton area we are lucky to have  Aintree University  Hospital who have been approved   for the treatment of WET AMD with  Lucentis    

Patients are under the care of Consultants Mr D Clark and Mr A Kamal. The treatments can now be on first as well as second eyes.To avoid delays and ensure the patients are seen promptly a direct referral scheme has been set up.

Please note patients with vision LESS THAN 6/96 are not eligible for referral under the direct scheme and should be referred as normal via their GP.

However patients with lower levels of vision but recent vision loss (less than 1/12) can have their details faxed through under the "Fast track" scheme.

Community Optometrists are encouraged to refer their patients directly to  Aintree using the downloadable forms opposite as long as they meet the 6/96 or better criteria. Please complete the form using black ink and fax through as per the details on the form.
