ALW LOC is registered as  a CET provider with Vantage for the GOC mandatory CET scheme.

The LOC runs occasional CET events and where appropriate gets shared care accreditation events approved for CET points.

The LOC  runs regular local Peer Review groups and 2 meetings a year are sponsored by ALW PCT. These are free of charge to all optometrists practising within the LOC area and usually involve small group discussions of interesting cases presented by the members of the group in an informal setting. These are usually held in an evening with a buffet meal provided. Recent events have covered, contact lens, Children’s binocular vision and ocular emergencies CET points are available for these events.

Our AGM is also usually followed by a speaker.   April 2010 the presentations were on Glaucoma by Suzanne Dennis (Local Independant Optometrist and ALW Lead assessor for Glaucoma referral refinement) and Helen Wilson (Principal Optometrist at MREH).
